There Will Be A Minute Of Silence In The Sturm Graz Vs Lazio Match

Sad moments have grown with the incident at Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency on Saturday (1/10/2022). UEFA will explicitly observe a minute's silence in all club competitions in Europe.

In an official statement, UEFA expressed its deepest condolences over the tragic incident. Police recorded 125 deaths.

"UEFA announced today that there will be a minute's silence before kick-off to honor the victims of the tragic events at the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Indonesia," the official statement read.

Victims were killed in riots with security forces in the stadium. According to reports, throwing tear gas into the stands was the biggest factor in the deaths of so many people.

The minute's silence applies to all Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League matches this week.

The same rule applies to Women's World Cup play-off matches from the European zone.

Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, said the incident was a "dark day for all involved in football and that was beyond comprehension."
