Lazio Join The Race For Koln Prospect Alessandro Puzzo
Lazio have reportedly entered the race to sign one of the most promising young talents currently developing in Germany. The Biancoceleste are among three Serie A clubs showing interest in Alessandro Puzzo, the German Italian attacking midfielder who has been impressing at FC Koln.
Born in 2006, Puzzo has grown within Koln’s renowned youth academy, which is widely regarded as one of the strongest in German football. The eighteen year old has quickly established himself as a key figure for the club’s Under 19 side, delivering performances that have drawn attention well beyond the Bundesliga.
This season, Puzzo has produced impressive numbers, registering five goals and seven assists in seventeen appearances across all competitions at youth level. His ability to operate between the lines, combine technical quality with vision, and contribute consistently in the final third has made him one of Koln’s most valuable prospects.
According to Fussball Transfers, Lazio are not alone in their interest. Atalanta and Bologna are also monitoring the situation closely. What makes the opportunity particularly appealing is Puzzo’s contractual status. His deal with Koln expires at the end of the current season, meaning he will be free to negotiate with other clubs starting next year.
From Lazio’s perspective, the timing could be ideal. Italian football recently introduced a regulation that excludes transfer fees and salary costs of Italian Under 23 players from club accounting calculations. This rule has encouraged Serie A sides to focus more aggressively on young Italian eligible players, and Puzzo fits that profile perfectly.
Although he has not yet represented either Germany or Italy at international level, his eligibility for the Azzurri alone is sufficient to benefit from the financial exemption. This adds further strategic value to any potential deal.
For Lazio, the pursuit of Puzzo reflects a broader policy aimed at combining technical development with long term sustainability. Should the club succeed in securing his signature, it would represent both a sporting investment and a financially intelligent move as they continue to build for the future.
