[SERIE A] Torino - Lazio = 1 - 1

September 24, 2021

Lazio avoid defeat when they traveled to Torino headquarters in the fifth week of the Italian League this season.  Ciro Immobile's goal in second-half injury time made the score 1-1.

Playing at the Olimpico Grande Torino, Thursday (23/9/2021), Torino threatened first through Josip Brekalo in the 10th minute, but his long-range shot was not on target.

A minute later Lazio came close to taking the lead when Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic made a blunder but Ciro Immobile failed to capitalize after his lob went wide.

Immobile had another chance in the 22nd minute, this time with a long-range effort, but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic saved it.

Torino hit back.  Antonio Sanabria almost scored in the 38th minute after using Adam Marusic's blunder, but his left-footed shot went wide to the right of the Lazio goal.  Meanwhile, in the 43rd minute, Sanabria's header was pushed over by Pepe Reina.

After playing a goalless draw in the first half, Torino finally broke the deadlock in the 76th minute.  Receiving Wilfried Singo's pass, Marko Pjaca, who had only entered two minutes earlier, registered his name on the scoreboard after his header beat Reina.

But when Torino thought victory was in hand, disaster came in second-half injury time.  The referee awarded Lazio a penalty after Koffi Djidji fouled Vedat Muriqi.

Immobile, who came forward as executor, managed to trick Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, ensuring Lazio returned to Rome with a point.

This draw made Lazio stuck in 7th place in the Italian League standings with 8 points, while Torino move to 9th with 7 points.
