Maurizio Sarri Changes Lazio Habits Since His Arrival

October 13, 2021

Since Maurizio Sarri's arrival earlier this year at Lazio he has changed the daily routine at Formello.  The 62-year-old Italian coach has come to replace Simone Inzaghi, who has been in charge of the capital club for the last five years.

As reported by Italian newspapers, the 62-year-old coach, Maurizio Sarri has changed a few things since his arrival, starting with the way he handled the announcement of the starting XI for the upcoming match.

Sarri will only confirm the starting XI for certain Lazio matches shortly before going to the stadium, in the pre-match meeting.  Until he arrived at the stadium, no one was allowed to spread the word.

In addition, the mandatory pre-match training retreats have now been removed and are now optional retreats with only the mandatory pre-match dinner.  Sometimes before a training session at Formello, he would head to the pitch before his squad and wait for them before high-fived and shared a word with each of the players.

The 62-year-old also did so before the Biancoceleste's matches against Cagliari and Torino where he had to serve a suspension.  He is also aware that it will take time for his squad to adapt to his system, he said after his experience at Chelsea.

"It took me some time to learn my method, at least three months, but the timing is uncertain, in my life I have experienced everything."

Now The Aquile are preparing for the game against Inter Milan with players who were not called up for international duty in the international break this October.
