Immobile: "My Statistics Have Proven It And I Don't Need To Take Criticism Back, All Speak For Themselves."

Ciro Immobile insists there is no need to respond to criticism dropped at him as his stats speak for themselves after he scored twice as Lazio beat hosts Salernitana 3-0 on Saturday night local time.

Ciro Immobile could have scored a hat-trick in the match against Salernitana had his chances not been bouncing off the crossbar and goal-line while his header could also have been saved by the opposing goalkeeper.

"I thank the team for putting me in a condition where I can perform well," the striker said via DAZN.

"We were right on target, focused, and brought home the three important points, Salernitana struggled because they lost a lot of players, I understand that but they are well organized and it will be more difficult if we don't score early in the game."

While Opta said that the 31-year-old striker has scored 140 goals in Serie A since joining Lazio in the 2016/17 season, equaling Cristiano Ronaldo's record in Europe's top five leagues in that period.

However, he is still the target of criticism from many people because of his disappointing record while playing for the Italian national team.

"I'm European champion, my statistics have proven it and I don't need to take criticism back, my track record says I scored two goals at the Euros.  I won the Golden Boot in 2020 as the top scorer in Europe and many other trophies, all speak for themselves."
