Lyon Wants To Make Emerson's Transfer From Chelsea Permanent Next Season

Emerson Palmieri is one of Lazio's coach, Maurizio Sarri's main targets but Lyon is likely to beat the Rome club in the hunt for the Italy international's services this summer.

As reported by LazioNews24, it was revealed that the 27-year-old player of Italian and Brazilian descent, Emerson Palmieri was having a good season while on loan at Ligue 1 club Lyon and the French club refused to return him to Chelsea in the January market.

While Sarri had asked Lazio to sign Emerson since his arrival last summer, they are now in danger of missing out on the opportunity to sign him as they were beaten by the Ligue 1 club, who are currently in the process of making a permanent transfer for the Euro 2020 champions.

Emerson has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far for Lyon, totaling 1963 minutes. In that period he has scored one goal and contributed one assist and put in impressive performances both offensively and defensively.

The Biancoceleste have been looking for a left-back for some time now and missing the chance to sign Emerson would force them to look for other targets. So far they only have Adam Marusic in that position.

Meanwhile, The Aquile have just won an important 3-0 win over Cagliari which helped them in realizing their target of finishing in the top four of the Serie A standings and qualifying for the Champions League.
