Sarri Still Wants To Bring Vecino To Lazio

Maurizio Sarri is still keen to bring Matias Vecino to Lazio after his contract with Inter Milan expires next summer, according to reports. Lazio is looking to overhaul their squad at the end of the season.

Uruguayan midfielder Matias Vecino, 30, was linked with a January move to Lazio, but the deal never materialized as the club was constrained by financial instability. However, Maurizio Sarri has still not forgotten the Inter player and still wants to work with him again.

As La Repubblica reports, Sarri believes Vecino would be the perfect complement to Lazio's midfield, and his value is very high given his free transfer after his contract with Inter expires.

Sarri is familiar with the 30-year-old midfielder, having worked together for a season at Empoli in 2014/15. Sarri hopes to have several new players on the market this summer, and given that his biggest problem is money, such a free transfer would benefit both him and the club.

Meanwhile, throughout the 2021/22 season, Vecino has made 23 appearances and scored one goal for Simone Inzaghi's team in all competitions.  The Biancoceleste are set to be abandoned by some of their most important players this summer including in midfield, and the Uruguayan's arrival at the Olimpico will be sorely needed.
