Gila Market Heats Up Ahead Of Summer As Lazio Brace For Bidding War

Mario Gila is quickly becoming one of Lazio’s most discussed names ahead of the summer window. After a strong Serie A campaign, the centre back is now being linked with interest from both Italy and the Premier League, and reports suggest Lazio are already preparing for concrete offers.

In England, Aston Villa have been described as readying a bid in the region of 30 million euros, with the same reports noting that Premier League sides are accelerating their plans early rather than waiting for July.

In Italy, AC Milan are repeatedly mentioned as admirers, while Inter are also reported to be monitoring the situation as they plan next season’s defence. Chelsea are another name that appears in the wider race, which is why this story is starting to look like a genuine multi club battle rather than a single rumour.

Lazio are not expected to let Gila go cheaply. Multiple reports place the club’s valuation in the 30 to 35 million euro range, which fits the idea that Lazio see him as a premium asset at the heart of their back line.

However, the most important detail is financial rather than sporting. When Lazio signed Gila from Real Madrid, the deal included a 50 percent sell on clause. That means Lazio would only keep half of any future transfer fee, with the other half going to Real Madrid. In practical terms, a 30 million euro sale does not bring 30 million into Lazio’s accounts.

This clause is why Lazio’s management will have to think carefully. A sale could still generate useful revenue, but it also risks weakening Sarri’s defensive structure, and the net gain is reduced by the agreement with Real Madrid. With more clubs joining the chase, Lazio can push the price up, but they also have to weigh whether the sporting cost is worth the financial return after the split.
