Milinkovic-Savic Has Reportedly Turned Down A One-year Contract Extension Offered By Lazio

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has reportedly turned down a one-year contract extension offered by Lazio and forced a change of plans at Formello. The Serbian international remains one of the regulars in the Italian capital.

Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, 27, has previously been linked with a move this summer, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United reportedly keen to sign him, but things have gotten calmed down because there is no concrete offer in recent weeks.

Lazio has decided to offer Milinkovic-Savic a one-year contract extension that expires in 2025, but he is not ready to accept it, according to Il Messaggero.

The idea of extending the Serbian midfielder's contract should give the club better protection and a better negotiating position, also in January, but a new strategy is now needed after the midfielder was not ready to take it.

The only transfer rumors for Milinkovic-Savic come from the Premier League, with Arsenal and Newcastle also considering possible moves, but the player is reluctant to join a team that doesn't qualify for the Champions League if he has to leave the Olimpico. Meanwhile, Manchester United still want him, although they are currently shifting their focus to pursuing other targets.
