Aleksandar Kolarov has retired from football. The Serbian defender ended his career playing for quite top clubs, such as Lazio, Manchester City, AS Roma, and Inter Milan.

Kolarov decided to hang up his shoes at the age of 36. His contract at Inter Milan expires in June 2022 and he has decided to end his playing career. Kolarov decided to immediately continue his career at a higher level. He admitted he was interested in exploring the role of sporting director or scout.

"I always knew this moment would come sooner or later. Although I regret closing a chapter in my life, I am grateful that I was able to achieve what I have always dreamed of," Kolarov said.

"Now I've been cast on Second Life in the world of football. For this reason, once the bid is announced, I will be enrolled in a qualifying course, first as a scout and then as a sporting director, at the Center Federal Technician of Coverciano."

Lazio managed to bring in Kolarov in the summer of 2007 with a transfer price of 925,000 euros from OFK Beograd. In his first season, he immediately became one of Lazio's key players in defending Biancoceleste's left flank.

Kolarov enjoyed three impressive seasons at Lazio and made his Champions League debut for the club. Lazio decided to sell the player to Manchester City in the summer of 2010 for 16 million euros.
