Sarri: "Lazio Has Not Improved At All And Have Even Gotten Worse In European Competitions Because I See A Lot Of Arrogance."

Surprisingly, Lazio lost 5-1 to Midtjylland — who were hosts — in the second match Europa League group which took place on Thursday (15/09) evening local time. Coach Maurizio Sarri warned he would seek an explanation from the players about their arrogance.

Lazio started the Europa League very impressively; they defeated Feyenoord 4-2 in the opening match. Consequently, many people expect great things from the team when they travel to Denmark to face Midtjylland. However, they lost 5-1 and were placed in a group with a bigger deficit. This is the second time in a row that Lazio lost with the same mistakes. The first time was last season; they lost with nearly the same mistakes as this time.

"Unfortunately, at the moment, Lazio has not improved at all and has even gotten worse in European competitions because we have improved before," Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

"We don't feel grounded at all, we think we've solved the problem, but you don't have that mindset."

Sarri said nothing to his team in the dressing room, preferring to think about what happened first.

"It's my responsibility, I'll deal with the players, I'll ask them to explain because I see a lot of arrogance. We're all calm, playing slow like we were 4-0 and can move on."

The coach was even sterner after the press conference, expressing doubts about his future at the Stadio Olimpico.

"This sudden emotional breakdown is similar to last year, it's hard to understand their motives, I need to address it, do I need to resign or the players leave."
