[Serie A] Spezia vs Lazio Preview

Lazio will travel to Stadio Alberto Picco to face Spezia who is in 17th place in the Serie A standings on Friday (14/04) local time. While Lazio has been unbeaten for six games away from home, Spezia is looking to extend their three-game unbeaten streak at home.

Spezia had their 11th consecutive draw in the league this season and their 7th since the beginning of the year against Fiorentina last weekend.

Only Udinese have drawn more Serie A games than Spezia this season and the Spezia club is still involved in a relegation battle, now occupying the 17th place just four points above the relegation zone following the win of Hellas Verona over Sassuolo.

Despite Spezia having only won one of the last 11 league matches, their defense has exhibited a slight improvement, as they have conceded no more than one goal in the last five matches compared to at least two goals conceded in the previous six matches.

However, keeping Lazio shut out in front of their goal could prove difficult for Spezia on Friday, as the Aquile has managed to produce 14 goals against Spezia in their last three meetings, including their  4-0 loss earlier this season.

Meanwhile, for Lazio, the recent win keeps Maurizio Sarri's men five points clear of third-placed Roma, while seven points separate them from fifth-placed Inter Milan.

Lazio can focus solely on Serie A duties in the absence of European football matches or domestic cups, having been eliminated in the last 16 of the European Conference League last March and knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia in February, and can appear confident of continuing their full strength performance.
