[Champions League] Lazio - Atletico Madrid = 1 - 1


The opening match of the 2023-2024 Champions League between Lazio and Atletico Madrid culminated thrillingly. In the last moments of the game, goalkeeper Ivan Provedel managed to score a goal, which prevented the Eagles from suffering a loss.


Taking place during the first matchday of Group E for the 2023-2024 Champions League, Lazio is set to host Atletico Madrid. The Stadio Olimpico in Rome was the site of the Lazio vs. Atletico Madrid match, which concluded with a score of 1-1.


Atletico Madrid, coached by former Lazio player, Diego Simeone, took the lead in the 29th minute. Atletico's young midfielder, Pablo Barrios, broke through Lazio's goal which was guarded by Ivan Provedel using Nahuel Molina's assist.


The halftime of the game arrived with Atletico still holding onto their one-goal advantage.


During the second half of the match, Lazio persisted in their efforts to score a goal. Despite their efforts, however, all attempts by the Aquile were met with resistance from the visiting team's tight defense


The climax of the event took place in the last few minutes of injury time in the second half. Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel scored in the 90+5 minute after heading a pass from Luis Alberto. Lazio avoided defeat at home thanks to a late goal from the goalie.
