Romagnoli: "I Still Have Two Years Left On My Contract And I’m Happy With What Fabiani Said. But It’s Not Up To Me. Some Promises Remain Unfulfilled, Though We’ll See—perhaps Something Will Change This Week."

Alessio Romagnoli has sparked speculation about his future at Lazio after revealing that the club failed to fulfill key promises made during his recruitment—though he remains hopeful for a resolution.

The 30-year-old defender, who played a pivotal role in Lazio’s qualification for the Champions League in the 2022/23 season, shared his uncertainty in a recent interview following the Biancoceleste’s 1-1 draw against Juventus. While expressing appreciation for sporting director Angelo Fabiani’s public backing, Romagnoli admitted that certain commitments made by president Claudio Lotito—particularly regarding a salary increase—have yet to be honored.

Romagnoli joined Lazio in the summer of 2022 amid high expectations and immediately became a cornerstone of the defense. However, the club’s failure to deliver on a verbal agreement has cast a shadow over his otherwise successful spell in the Italian capital.

“I still have two years left on my contract and I’m happy with what Fabiani said,” Romagnoli told DAZN. “I love it here, and if I have to leave, it will be with a heavy heart. But it’s not up to me. Some promises remain unfulfilled, though we’ll see—perhaps something will change this week.”

Despite the ongoing tension, Romagnoli’s words also leave room for optimism, hinting that discussions are imminent. With both sides expected to meet in the coming days, fans will be eager to see whether Lazio and one of their defensive leaders can find a solution that secures his stay.
