Isaksen Finds His Rhythm Again As Lazio Eye Momentum In Serie A
Lazio can finally breathe again. With Gustav Isaksen’s return to full fitness, there is renewed optimism around Formello. The Danish winger, now entering his third season in Rome, seems ready to take that long awaited leap forward. Supported by a demanding coach like Maurizio Sarri, Isaksen looks set to turn potential into performance.
After a summer disrupted by mononucleosis, Isaksen returned to the starting lineup and immediately showed signs of the player Lazio hoped he would become. His performance against Juventus was full of energy and determination, standing out as one of the best on the pitch despite not scoring.
Thursday’s Serie A match against Pisa at the Arena Garibaldi will be another opportunity to continue this progress. With Matteo Cancellieri sidelined by injury, the right flank now belongs to the Dane. This is his moment and his season to prove that his growing consistency can translate into more goals and assists.
According to Il Messaggero, Isaksen’s display against Juventus was filled with intensity and courage. He covered more than 11 kilometers, took three shots on goal, and impressed with his pressing, dribbling, and recoveries. His relentless effort almost brought the Olimpico crowd to its feet in the 79th minute.
This season follows a positive 2024–25 campaign under Marco Baroni, during which Isaksen began to find rhythm and confidence in Serie A. Now, under Sarri’s system, he appears even sharper, more focused, and tactically disciplined. His contract runs until June 2028, giving the club time and flexibility to decide his long-term future.
If Isaksen continues to grow and improves his productivity, a contract renewal could be on the horizon. Otherwise, he might become part of Lazio’s player trading plan. The final decision will depend on his numbers this season, both in goals and assists, as the club evaluates his market value and contribution to the project.
Consistency will define his season. If Isaksen sustains his current form, Lazio may have found both a reliable weapon and one of their brightest emerging stars.
