Lazio Will Hold A Retreat At Coverciano To Prepare For Their Next Coppa Italia Match Against Bologna

February 09, 2026

After the hard earned point at the Allianz Stadium, S.S. Lazio have no time to breathe. Maurizio Sarri’s side are back in action immediately, facing Bologna FC in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal on Wednesday, February 11 at 21:00 CET at the Renato Dall’Ara.

To streamline the schedule and keep the squad fully focused, Lazio will not return directly to Formello. Instead, the team will reportedly hold a short training camp at Coverciano, the Italian national team’s technical centre, using it as a temporary base before heading to Bologna. The group is then expected to return to Formello later in the week to prepare for the next league match, a home fixture against Atalanta on Saturday, February 14, with kick off set for 18:00 local time in Rome.

However, the run of games comes with a growing injury watch. Sarri could be without up to three players who picked up issues in Turin, as Toma BaÅ¡ić, Mario Gila, and Oliver Provstgaard all left the pitch with physical problems and are being evaluated. BaÅ¡ić is the main concern after he was forced off around halftime, while early indications suggest Gila’s issue was muscular discomfort and Provstgaard’s was more likely cramps.

There is one clear boost for the cup tie. Luca Pellegrini, suspended in the league, will be available again and is in the conversation to start in Bologna. Meanwhile, Alessio Romagnoli returned to the pitch after the recent transfer window chaos, but he will miss the Atalanta match due to suspension after picking up another booking. Patric also made his return after a calf injury, adding another option at the back at a time when the squad is stretched.

The absences remain significant. Lazio are still without captain Mattia Zaccagni, expected to miss around four weeks after an oblique abdominal muscle injury, and Manuel Lazzari, who has been ruled out for roughly three weeks with a calf strain.

The Coppa Italia bracket adds extra weight to Wednesday night. If Lazio beat Bologna, they would reach the semifinals and face Atalanta, who are already through after a 3 to 0 quarterfinal win over Juventus. On the other side of the draw, Inter are already in the semifinals after beating Torino 2 to 1. The final remaining quarterfinal is Napoli versus Como, scheduled for Tuesday, February 10.

In short, Lazio’s week is set up like a stress test. The club have chosen the Coverciano retreat to maximise recovery and preparation, but Sarri’s options depend heavily on how BaÅ¡ić, Gila, and Provstgaard respond over the next forty eight hours. With a semifinal spot on the line and Atalanta waiting in both the cup and the league calendar, Lazio are entering a stretch that could define the mood of their season.
