Lazio Hold A Meeting Discussing Muriqi's Future

Lazio is reportedly holding a meeting to discuss striker Vedat Muriqi's future at the club, the Kosovo international's transfer to the Olimpico last summer was deemed a failure because it did not live up to expectations.

Last summer, Lazio signed striker Vedat Muriqi from Turkish giants Fenerbahce by spending up to 17.5 million euros plus a bonus of 1.5 million euros for the 27-year-old's services.

However, after one season, the transfer has proved a huge failure for the Biancoceleste. In 34 appearances in the 2020/21 season, Muriqi was only able to score two goals. The striker was previously expected to add depth to the attacking line-up with The Aquile trying to balance European and domestic competition but was unable to help.

Now the Rome-based club wants to get out of the deal or want to let the striker go, according to Italian football journalist Nicolo Schira, there was a meeting held in Milan between the Aquile's sporting director, Igli Tare, and his agent, Valerio Giuffrida which resulted in the decision. Muriqi's possibility to leave the club this summer.

Several clubs have reportedly shown their interest in signing the Aquile striker, Fenerbahce is also considering the return of Muriqi to the Turkish club but there has been no concrete offer to make a transfer happen. In addition, several clubs from England are also interested in his services.
