Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi said he was excited to work with the new coach, Maurizio Sarri ahead of the new Serie A season which will take place on August 21.

Francesco Acerbi discussed Italy's success in winning Euro 2020 and he expressed his feelings after the Azzurri's triumph through an interview with Italian media, TuttoMercatoWeb.

"As European champions, I feel very happy," said the 33-year-old defender.

"Mancini is a great coach and also a great manager, he entertains us."

He then gave a brief commentary on his Lazio and Azzuri team-mate Ciro Immobile.

"He's great."

In the end, Acerbi discussed the new Biancoceleste coach, Maurizio Sarri who replaced Simone Inzaghi.

"I'm interested in him, he's a great coach and now we have to start thinking about next season."

The 33-year-old made three appearances in the Euro tournament playing as a substitute for captain Giorgio Chiellini.  He is contracted by The Aquile until 2023 and made 32 appearances in Serie A last season with a total of 2815 minutes.  In that period he contributed one assist and helped his team keep 10 clean sheets.

The player will be a key player in Sarri's defense, likely to work closely with Brazilian center-back Luiz Felipe in a four-man formation that has changed from the three-man Inzaghi used five years ago.
