Atletico Madrid is reportedly ready to compete with Real Madrid in the hunt for Lazio's Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto this summer.  The player is said to have expressed his desire to leave the Olimpico.

La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are in the hunt for Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto, who is also a target for city rivals Real Madrid, as reported by Spanish media, El Gol Digital.  Alberto moved to the Biancoceleste after a disappointing career with Premier League club Liverpool.

He has seen an improvement in his career with the Italian capital club the 28-year-old is one of the players with the most consistent appearances so far this year in Serie A. Overall he has made 175 appearances for the Biancoceleste where he scored 35 goals and contributed 48 assists.

Alberto is reportedly looking to advance his career elsewhere and he has informed the club of his desire to leave.  As a result, two Spanish giants expressed interest in getting his services.

Los Blancos are looking to sign a new central midfielder as a replacement for Luka Modric who, during the last decade with the club, has entered the final stage of his career.  In addition, Toni Kroos has also stepped on for 30 years.  While the future of Dani Ceballos is still hanging, coach Carlo Ancelotti has also been busy looking for options in the midfield sector and one of the choices is Luis Alberto.

However, Los Blancos must be ready to compete with the neighboring club, Los Rojiblancos who also want to bring Alberto, they are also looking for a new midfielder because they are reportedly preparing to release Saul Niguez this summer.

Atletico hopes to get at least 50 million euros from the sale of Saul, and they plan to use the money to sign Alberto who has been awarded a transfer fee of 60 million euros by Biancoceleste.
