Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri gave the latest news on the condition of his squad ahead of the inaugural match in the 2021/22 Serie A season against Empoli which took place on Saturday (21/08) evening Italian time.  He discussed the arrival of Felipe Anderson and his relationship with Luis Alberto.

Ahead of his first competitive game as Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri discussed his squad which had several new signings and his relationship with Biancoceleste's senior players.

Felipe Anderson is back at the Olimpico and the coach expects him to be available in the opener against promoted Empoli.

"He should be able to play, he has overcome all the bureaucratic problems and has been busy with it for the past two and a half days," said the coach as quoted by Football-Italia.

"I've seen him play on the left and right wing, we'll see how to use it, I think it will alternate."

Luis Alberto has had a controversial summer but Sarri seems to have put that issue behind him and is hoping the player can help this season.

"He has had some physical problems but this week he has been training regularly, he is starting to understand what I want from him, he has great talent and technique.

"In terms of behavior, he has a certain character, he is classified as an introvert, we will get to know him more closely and I have no problem with him."

But the Spanish midfielder could be left on the bench against Empoli and Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro started in the first league match of the season.

"We'll see tomorrow, we still have training sessions, Akpa Akpro guarantees dynamism and quality for us.

"He has a lot and will help his team this season."
