Martusciello: "Today's Game Shows We Are On The Right Track"

Assistant coach, Giovanni Martusciello insists that Lazio is on track despite only being able to draw 2-2 against Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday (19/09).

Maurizio Sarri is serving a two-match suspension after being shown a red card against Milan last weekend, so it was Martusciello who accompanied Lazio in the match against Cagliari which ended in a 2-2 draw. The hosts' goals were created by Ciro Immobile and Danilo Cataldi.

"We have played well at high speed, we have prepared the game with a fast attack. There was an important team performance in the first half. In football, a slight decrease in tension is enough to concede a goal," said the former Empoli coach as quoted by Football-Italia.

"We showed a reaction in the last minute of the game and we were good to score the equalizer, it was an important performance, don't forget this team has different habits. Today's game shows we are on the right track.

"We still have to work on some details, but the players are improving, there's a tremendous commitment, a lot will depend on whether they can create chances in attack."

When asked if the Biancoceleste striker should put more pressure on the opposing defender. Martusciello replied: "I don't agree, especially in the first half, we could steal the ball from their area, then they forced us to defend and retreat, which made it difficult for us."
