Danilo Cataldi Slowly Convincing Maurizio Sarri With His Quality

Lazio midfielder, Danilo Cataldi is reportedly slowly convincing coach Maurizio Sarri with his qualities.  The Italian has got more playing time this season with the new coach.

As reported by the Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport, 27-year-old midfielder Danilo Cataldi has played a total of 229 minutes for Lazio so far this season in the opening seven games so far as well as proving his skills to coach Maurizio Sarri.

Last season Cataldi looked neglected under their previous coach, Simone Inzaghi, having played just 641 minutes in all competitions in the 2020/21 season for the Italian capital side.  But in contrast under Sarri, the midfielder has increasingly shown his importance in the squad by taking the place of Gonzalo Escalante.

The 27-year-old is now hoping to start challenging Brazilian veteran Lucas Leiva in the starting XI but he is still happy to establish himself as a reliable substitute for now.  The midfielder's contract with the Biancoceleste runs until 2024 and he is a long-time admirer of the Italian capital club and has been with the club since he was a child.

Since joining the Biancoceleste senior team in 2013/14 the midfielder has made 135 appearances in total and contributed eight goals in all competitions.  During approximately eight years at the Olimpico, he was loaned three times to three different clubs namely Crotone, Genoa, and Benevento.
