[Serie A] Lazio - Inter Milan = 3 - 1

October 17, 2021

Defending champions, Inter Milan play away against Lazio in the 8th week of the Italian League Serie A 2021/22, Saturday (16/10/2021).  The match that became the event for Simone Inzaghi's reunion at the Stadio Olimpico had a bitter end for him.  In a game that was studded with cards, His Inter fell for 1-3 to Sarri's Lazio.

Inter led 1-0 at half-time through Ivan Perisic's 12th-minute penalty. The penalty itself was awarded after Elseid Hysaj was sentenced to violating Nicolo Barella in the penalty area.

In the second half, Lazio continued to try to attack Inter's backline for a goal back.  Lazio finally reap positive results.  From Alessandro Bastoni's handball, the referee gives the penalty to Lazio.  Immobile stepped up as executioner and managed to beat Samir Handanovic to make the score 1-1.

Lazio then scored two more goals to ensure victory, namely Felipe Anderson in the 81st minute and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the 90+1 minute.

A riot broke out after Felipe Anderson's goal.  The Inter squad does not seem happy because Dimarco was laying on the field when Lazio attack and wants them to throw the ball out.  However, Lazio did not stop the game and finally scored.  Several players from both teams were yellow carded from the riot.

Inzaghi failed to bring Inter to beat his former club.  The Nerazzurri suffered their first league defeat of the season, but are still in the top four.  Meanwhile, Lazio earned an additional three points which are essential for their target for qualifying champion league.

Next, in the middle of the week, both teams will compete in a European competition.  Lazio will host Marseille in the Europa League, while Inter will host Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League.
