Ciro Immobile hopes to be back playing as soon as possible but admits the injury has recurred. The 31-year-old striker had to miss two matches in the international break and then with the Italian national team and was subsequently unable to appear for Lazio against Juventus.

Ciro Immobile is hoping to make an appearance for Lazio soon after missing Saturday night's match against Juventus with a calf injury but he hopes to be back soon and in action on the pitch.

"My injury is getting better, I'm making some improvements every day," the 31-year-old said via Il Corriere dello Sport.

"I should be able to play against Juventus but I have problems in other muscles and not in the calf," he continued.

"Injured right muscle and should not take any risks, I have to undergo a further medical examination, I no longer feel pain, but I don't want to get injured again, so I have to be patient, I hope to be back playing soon."

Immobile is currently the top scorer in Serie A this season along with Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic both having scored ten goals so far. The striker was unable to help the Biancoceleste from a 2-0 defeat against the Bianconeri which saw them slump to sixth in the Serie A standings.

The Italy international striker has just received his club's accolades after breaking the all-time leading goalscorer record with his 160 goals beating the previous record held by Silvio Piola.
