Lazio Target Another Striker: Joao Pedro

Lazio reportedly has an option to replace Vedat Muriqi in the January transfer window, namely Cagliari striker, Joao Pedro.  Previously, Maurizio Sarri's team had monitored the other two candidates.

According to reports by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, sporting director Igli Tare is working hard to find their signature striker, Ciro Immobile.  That is because the current option, Vedat Muriqi failed to impress coach Maurizio Sarri and so bringing in an alternative was urgently needed.

But before that, the Biancoceleste had to send the Kosovo international striker on loan thus freeing up a place for one more striker in its squad, and that could be Joao Pedro from Cagliari.  The club most likely to be Muriqi's destination is his former club, Turkish giant Fenerbahce

The 29-year-old Brazilian striker is currently negotiating a new contract with Cagliari but he also appreciates the interest from Tare and could be persuaded to move to Roma.  Joao Pedro has made 12 Serie A appearances so far in the 2021/22 season, playing 1078 minutes in total.

In that period he has scored seven goals and provided two assists, being one of the players to shine in a squad that has been underwhelming this season.

While The Aquile is currently fifth in the Serie A standings, Cagliari is bottom of the table after 12 games for the 2021/22 season.
