Sarri: "I Don't Know If We Have Any Chance Of Qualifying For The Champions League, But For Now, We Are Focused On Our Development."

Maurizio Sarri admitted that he did not know if Lazio had a chance to qualify for the Champions League and at the same time he again complained about the hectic schedule that his team had to play ahead of the match against Atalanta on Saturday (22/01) local time.

Lazio will host Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday (22/01) local time, currently, they are in eighth place in the Serie A standings, seven points behind La Dea who still have one game to play.

The Biancoceleste were prepared with two consecutive wins in all competitions before the match, namely wins against Salernitana (Serie A) and Udinese (Coppa Italia).

"We have shown that we are a solid team, but tomorrow (Saturday) we will face a team with an extraordinary attacking potential, we cannot make mistakes," Sarri said as quoted by Football-Italia.

"I don't know if we have any chance of qualifying for the Champions League, but for now, we are focused on our development.  We are improving, but we have to be more consistent.  The results depend on the small details."

On the same occasion, Sarri also complained about the match schedule and the abolition of the away rule which would have sent the match into extra time.

"They will play the World Cup in the winter with 60 teams, they abolished the away goals rule, so more games will continue in extra time," he said.

"The number of games is increasing, but the hypocrisy of Financial Fair Play and the limited number of players per team, at least they allow us to have 30 players in the squad to be able to face a lot of games."
