[Serie A] Lazio - Empoli Prediction

Lazio will be looking for their 3rd win in a row as they kick off their 2022 with a home clash against Empoli in the Serie A clash on Thursday (6/1) at the Stadio Olimpico.

Lazio is currently still outside the European zone by sitting eighth in the standings after picking up 31 points from 19 games, while their visitors are just one place below them having picked up four points less.

Amid inconsistency issues under manager Maurizio Sarri's new tactics, Lazio will be content with two straight wins in Serie A to end off their 2021 year which keeps them close to the hopes of getting into the European zone.

With Lazio currently winning three of their last four Serie A games, Maurizio Sarri's men are just one point adrift of AS Roma in sixth and seven points off Atalanta in fourth, but they must start to find consistency in their game in 2022.  to increase the chances of reaching the European zone.

Empoli, meanwhile, ended their 2021 with a disappointing result having gone winless in their last two Serie A matches, being held to a 1-1 draw by Spezia before being beaten 2-4 by AC Milan at home, two poor results that saw disappointing has been after a shock 0-1 win at home to Napoli.

Despite that, Aurelio Andreazzoli's side has still had a pretty impressive season in Serie A in the first round of the season having won eight, drawn three, and lost eight of their 19 matches to sit ninth in the Serie A table.
