Pedro: "I Had Difficulties In Roma, They Removed Me From The Team Without The Management Talking To Me."

Pedro has revealed the difficulties that led to his departure from Roma last summer and what prompted a direct move to city rivals Lazio. The two teams will meet in the derby della capitale at the Olimpico Stadium on Sunday night (20/03) local time.

2010 world champion, Pedro Rodriguez joined Roma on a free transfer in September 2020 after his Chelsea contract expired. He only played one season with Roma, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 28 Serie A appearances.

The Spanish winger has agreed to terminate his contract with the club just 12 months after then joining Lazio on a free transfer. He told him about leaving the Giallorossi and Maurizio Sarri contacted him.

"I had difficulties in Roma, they removed me from the team without the management talking to me, they said I had to leave," he said on Lazio Style radio.

"When I spoke with Sarri there was an opportunity, indeed, a transfer like this hasn't happened in a very long time but I am very happy to be here."

The 34-year-old has made 37 appearances in all competitions so far for a total of 2376 minutes.  In that period he scored nine goals and contributed five assists and became one of the key players in Maurizio Sarri's squad.
