Sarri: "When The Results Don't Match The Performance, It Means You Did Something Wrong. I'm Happy Because We've Conceded Fewer Goals Than At The Start Of The Season."

Lazio successfully silenced host Cagliari with a 3-0 score in the continuation of Serie A which took place on Saturday (05/03) evening local time in Sardinia.  However, coach Maurizio Sarri still expects his team to continue to improve after the win.

Lazio has shown improvement in recent matches both in their attack and defense.  The Italian capital club successfully bounced back after being beaten by Napoli at home last weekend and managed to steal the perfect three points from Cagliari.

"When the results don't match the performance, it means you did something wrong.  "It's not a big thing, but the details that make the difference, for example, the goal against us against Napoli 20 seconds before the end of the game is unacceptable," Sarri said via Sky Sport Italia.

"We also dropped points in Bergamo against Atalanta, Udinese, and Napoli by conceding in stoppage time, so we didn't have the right focus in terms of details in those moments and it proved to be a huge loss."

The Biancoceleste are the second most prolific team in Serie A this season with just three goals adrift of leaders Inter making it a feat for the Italian coach.

"I'm happy because we've conceded fewer goals than at the start of the season, football is all about balance, so if you score three goals and concede three goals it's not that big of a difference," he said.

"Normally I like an attacking team, but I'm also happy that we've kept a few clean sheets in the last few games.  Our defensive moves have to be as a team, so if two players don't respect the moves that are requested then everything will fail.

"Once the mechanics and moves are ingrained in the minds of the players it becomes automatic and everything becomes a lot easier."

The addition of three perfect points has not changed the position of the Biancoceleste in the seventh position in the Serie A standings with a collection of 46 points from 28 matches played so far.
