Zaccagni Confirmed To Be Absent From Lazio Vs Roma Derby Match

Mattia Zaccagni will miss Lazio's derby against Roma after being booked in Serie A against Venezia on Monday night (14/03).

26-year-old Italian midfielder Mattia Zaccagni had previously received a warning from referee Gianluca Manganiello for a simulation but still fell smoothly after slightly touching Mattia Caldara in the Venezia penalty box.

The Italian midfielder received a yellow card for diving, which forced him to miss the Derby della Capitale match. This game is key for Lazio and Roma to qualify for this season's European competition.

The midfielder's absence from the derby is a huge loss for head coach Maurizio Sarri, as he is one of the key players for Aquile's squad in 2022 and will play a key role in improving the squad's form.

Zaccagni made 28 appearances for the Biancoceleste in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing seven assists during this period.

Meanwhile, coach Maurizio Sarri commented on the incident involving the midfielder and said he was not diving after reviewing it.

"I saw the footage, there was contact between Zaccagni's knee and Caldara's thigh, I'm not saying it was a penalty but it wasn't a dive." Said the coach via Sky Sport Italia.
