Lazio Plans To Make Swap Deal Between Acerbi And Rugani

Lazio is reportedly considering a swap between veteran defender Francesco Acerbi and Juventus center-back Daniel Rugani, with whom coach Maurizio Sarri has worked closely.

Italian center-back Francesco Acerbi, 34, has reportedly decided to leave Lazio in the summer after his relationship with the fans deteriorated, sparked by his 'shhh' celebration in the win over Genoa just before Christmas.

Acerbi is almost certain to leave Biancoceleste this summer, with two potential destinations, as Il Messaggero and Corriere dello Sport report. First up is Inter, with Simone Inzaghi looking to work with the veteran again.

While the second target is Juventus, there could be a player swap involving Daniel Rugani. Massimiliano Allegri loves Acerbi and is keen to add a seasoned defender to his squad, while Sarri would be happy to work with Rugani again, both of whom have previously played at Empoli.

Rugani has been with the Bianconeri for five years since joining from Empoli and has made 116 appearances in all competitions overall and scored eight goals. The defender also spent time on loan at Rennes and Cagliari throughout the 2020/21 season before finally returning to Turin in the 2021/22 season and making just 15 appearances so far.
