Francesco Caputo's Performance Was Monitored By Lazio In The Last Match

Lazio had the opportunity to watch Francesco Caputo take on Sampdoria at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night (07/05), which the hosts eventually won 2-0.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri is reportedly hoping to sign Italian striker Francesco Caputo, 34, in January as a back-up for Ciro Immobile but the player's transfer never materialized as he played for Sassuolo and Sampdoria this season meaning he wasn't allowed to play for the third team in the same season.

As Corriere dello Sport reports, Caputo's season has been impressive, with Il Samp and Lazio keeping tabs on his performances in Saturday night's game, which was ultimately won by the hosts, which meant a lot in their bid to secure fifth place in the 2021/22 Serie A standings.

Caputo, 34, has scored 11 goals in 35 Serie A appearances this season, proving he can still compete in the league, and the Aquile are likely to continue their hunt at the end of the season as they are still looking for a new backup striker.

Maurizio Sarri's team plan to release Vedat Muriqi who is currently on loan until the end of this season at RCD Mallorca even though the Kosovo international striker has shown impressive performances while playing for the La Liga side.
