The Rise Of Nicolò Casale

November 25, 2022

Arrived in carefully and then blossomed.  Nicolò Casale made his debut last among the players who arrived in the summer: he waited for 6 games, settled down, and got to know Sarri's Lazio and the movements of the defense at 4.

As the Radiosei review recalls, he had played 4 in Empoli, then moved to 3 with Tudor in Verona, very similar to Juric's philosophy. Like a bolt from the blue, Sarri unexpectedly put him on the pitch. An injury against Cremonese kept him sidelined for a month, then he returned and the manager never took off his starting position. The derby, the Europa League, took over from Patric and today he forms the biancoceleste wall with Romagnoli.

Numbers and data smile at him. Along with Felipe Anderson and Provedel, Casale is one of three players who always start in November. He played and completed the most passes in the same month, with an average of 0.8 goals conceded in the 10 games he played compared to 1.3 without him. Sarri had been fascinated by him some time ago: he had followed him at the time of Empoli, he watched him in Verona, and finally took him to Lazio.
