Jorginho's Contract Has Not Yet Been Extended, Possible Reunion With Sarri At Lazio Next Season

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho's contract expires at the end of the season, so he will become a free agent in the middle of next year. Until now, there is no certainty as to whether Chelsea will renew Jorginho's contract or not. This will allow the player to enter into negotiations with other clubs beginning on January 1st.

Jorginho is one of several other Blues players whose contracts expire at the end of the 2022-2023 season, including N'Golo Kante. The former Hellas Verona and Napoli player is often reported to be returning to Serie A. Juventus or a reunion with his former coach, Maurizio Sarri at Lazio, is said to be the most desirable option for Jorginho.

However, Sky Sports Italia reports that Newcastle United is the leading contender to acquire the services of Jorginho over other competitors, this would lead to the return of Jorginho to Italy being unlikely soon.

Jorginho has been in England since following Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea in 2018. He was bought for 57 million euros at the time.

In the 2022-2023 season, the 31-year-old player has made 20 appearances in various competitions, scoring three goals in the process.
