Lucas Leiva Forced To Stop All Of His Football Activities Due To Heart Issue

Former Lazio midfielder, Lucas Leiva has been removed from practice at his current club Gremio after club doctors sounded a heart issue.

He spent 10 successful years at Liverpool between 2007 and 2017, making 346 appearances in total. He then moved to Lazio, where he'd spend another five years. He departed European soccer in June of 2022 to return to his former club Gremio in Brazil.

Currently, his professional career in Brazil has been temporarily suspended following a routine check-up that revealed a heart issue. Lucas Leiva himself shared the news on his social media:

"The Gremio Medical Department announces that the athlete Lucas Leiva presented, in the pre-season routine exams, a picture of cardiac rhythm alteration. The player, therefore, is exempted from physical activities until the supplementary exams are completed."

Replying to his tweet, Liverpool FC wrote: "We’re all with you Lucas."

And his former Lazio teammate Felipe Caicedo said: "Good recovery brother, you will come back stronger."
