Milinkovic-Savic: "I Don't Want To Discuss Contract Extensions At All. I'm Completely Focused On The Pitch. I Want To Do Everything I Can To Help The Team Meet Their Goals This Season."

Lazio's midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, was delighted with his goal drought's end at Monza on Sunday (2/4). Milinkovic-Savic hopes that this goal will silence critics.

Milinkovic-Savic has been criticized for his failure to contribute as much as possible throughout the 2023 season. Before breaking into Monza's goal, Milinkovic-Savic was only able to contribute one goal and one assist in 11 league matches.

"Finally I was able to score again. I miss the feeling of scoring goals," the player was quoted as saying by Football-Italia.

"Many negative assessments and negative votes have been made over the past few months. This goal will provide me with an injection of confidence that I need until the end of the season." Continued the Serbian midfielder.

The contract between Milinkovic-Savic and Lazio will expire in June 2024. Additionally, widespread reports say that the player is expected to depart after the 2022-23 season.

Milinkovic-Savic is unwilling to discuss his contract extension in front of the media. He admits that he only wants to focus on his responsibilities with the Aquile and that his future will be decided at the end of the season.

"I'm completely focused on the pitch. I want to do everything I can to help the team meet their goals this season."

"I don't want to discuss contract extensions at all. We'll see what happens at the end of the season."
