[Serie A] Lazio - Juventus = 2 - 1

The match between Lazio and Juventus is a big match in the 29th week of the Italian league. The Aquile would host the Old Lady on the Olimpico, Saturday (8/4/2023). As a result, Lazio managed to beat Juventus 2-1 through goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Mattia Zaccagni.

For Lazio, this is an important moment to end the long wait of four years to defeat Juventus. Previously, the Biancoceleste had never won in 7 consecutive meetings against their rivals, the last victory occurred in the 2019 Italian Super Cup (3-1).

The unique thing, at the time, was that Juventus was led by Maurizio Sarri, who is currently the coach of Lazio and who, in turn, reversed his position to defeat his former club. Sarri used his attractive fast-attack game strategy to overcome the opposition of his former club.

The first goal of the game was reached after just over an hour of play. After Mattia Zaccagni's pass, Milinkovic-Savic broke into the Juventus goal. Milinkovic-Savic used his chest to control the ball before firing a left-footed shot into the penalty box that beat the goalkeeper.

The Juventus players protested because Milinkovic-Savic was considered to have fouled Alex Sandro, but the goal was still allowed by the referee using VAR.

Soon after, Rabiot's equalizer made up for it for the Bianconeri. The first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

Lazio's second goal came in the second half, thanks to a clever fast attack scheme. Luis Alberto used his heel to send the ball beautifully to Zaccagni, who was free standing in the penalty box. The ball was then netted into the goal by Zaccagni's right-footed strike. Lazio held a 2-1 lead against Juventus until the last whistle of the game.

With 58 points from 29 games, Maurizio Sarri's team is firmly in second place. However, Juventus ended their seven-match winning streak in all competitions and remain outside the European club zone in the Italian League standings.
