[Serie A] Lecce - Lazio = 2 - 1

Lazio returns to the field for the opening match of the 2023-24 Serie A championship against D'Aversa's Lecce. However, the results are not in Lazio's favor as the Aquiles are unable to secure a victory and leave empty-handed from Lecce's home field.

In the match between Lazio and Lecce, the final score was 2-1 in favor of the home team. The team secured the full points with two goals scored in the final minutes of the match. The first goal, which was scored in the 85th minute, was by Pontus Almqvist and was followed shortly after by Federico Di Francesco's goal in the 87th minute. Lazio, on the other hand, only managed to score one goal in the first half, which was scored by Ciro Immobile.

In the first half, Lazio was able to score their first goal within a mere 26 minutes. Luis Alberto delivered a pass directly to Ciro Immobile, who subsequently shot the ball toward the goal. This marked the sixth goal for the Lazio captain in every first league match. Following this goal, Sarri's team remained in the lead until the conclusion of the first half.

In the second half, it's the D'Aversa team that looks dangerous as they persistently pushed forward in search of an equalizing goal. Meanwhile, Lazio struggled to find a second goal and appeared disoriented. In the end, Lecce wins the game in two minutes, first with Almqvist's long-range goal in the 85th minute and then with Di Francesco's shot in the penalty area in the 87th minute.

A well-deserved victory for D'Aversa's Lecce, demonstrating how Sarri's Lazio has yet to learn from last year's mistakes. This setback amply proves that since, if the moments in which the goals arrived have varied, how they arrived has not altered since the previous Lecce-Lazio match. Consequently, even if it was only the first match in the championship, the Biancoceleste team must improve their physical condition and, most importantly, take a bath of humility, which they require.
