[Champions League] Lazio Registered 22 Players For The Champions League Competition, With Basic Missing From The List

September 05, 2023

Lazio officially revealed a list of 22 players that will compete in the Champions League for the 2023/24 season.

By securing the second-place spot in Serie A during the previous season, Lazio has earned the privilege of representing Italy in this season's Champions League.

In Group E, Maurizio Sarri's team is joined by three other teams: Atletico Madrid, Feyenoord, and Glasgow Celtic.

Afterward, Sarri enlisted 22 individuals who were to be officially recognized as Lazio's players. This group included newly acquired members such as Luigi Sepe, Luca Pellegrini, Matteo Guendouzi, Daichi Kamada, Nicolò Rovella, Taty Castellanos, and Gustav Isaksen.

According to reports, Toma Basic was not listed by Sarri due to the Croatian midfielder allegedly not being included in the manager's choice of players. Currently, Lazio is actively seeking to transfer Basic to another club.

The club is required to provide a list of 25 players, of which 4 players must be homegrown. Currently, Lazio's first-team squad only has one homegrown player, Cataldi. Therefore, the remaining spots on the list will be allocated to the other homegrown players from Lazio Primavera's team.

The Biancoceleste's UCL campaign will kick off on September 20 when they welcome Atletico Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The following is Lazio's full roster for the 2023/24 Champions League season:

Goalkeepers: Ivan Provedel, Luigi Sepe.

Defenders: Nicolo Casale, Mario Gila, Elseid Hysaj, Manuel Lazzari, Adam Marusic, Patric, Luca Pellegrini, Alessio Romagnoli.
