Provedel: "This Defeat Leaves Us With A Bitter Taste. In The Champions League, When Facing Top-tier Teams, Even The Smallest Details And Incidents Can Be Decisive."

Lazio made the trip to Bayern Munich's stronghold at the Allianz Arena for the second leg of the 2023/24 Champions League round of 16.

Holding a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg, the Biancoceleste only required a draw to progress to the next round. However, Maurizio Sarri's side couldn't withstand the strength of Thomas Tuchel's team and suffered a 0-3 defeat in the last match.

Ivan Provedel's net was breached three times, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Thomas Muller adding another goal.

"Of course, it's disappointing. The match was evenly balanced until their first goal. This defeat leaves us with a bitter taste," Provedel told Sport Mediaset.

"We're also frustrated because there were four officials on the field, yet none recognized that their second goal shouldn't have been allowed from the corner kick situation."

"Nevertheless, we can't make excuses and still give credit to our opponents," added the goalkeeper.

"In the Champions League, when facing top-tier teams, even the smallest details and incidents can be decisive."

"We struggle to capitalize on opportunities while our opponents can," Provedel remarked, noting similarities with the first leg where they couldn't convert many chances against Bayern.
