Igor Tudor recently made his initial statement after taking over as Lazio's new coach following Maurizio Sarri's departure. He shared his key motivations for accepting the position and his early impressions of the team after spending 48 hours with them.


The 46-year-old Croatian manager, Igor Tudor, officially joined the Biancoceleste last Monday, shortly after Maurizio Sarri resigned unexpectedly. He signed a one-year contract with an option for a second year, extending until June 2025.


With only six of The Aquile's players away on international duty, Tudor is using the break in fixtures to familiarize himself with the squad before their upcoming match against Juventus on March 30. Lazio currently sits ninth in the standings, trailing fourth-placed Bologna by 11 points.


In his first public discussion about becoming Lazio's coach, Tudor expressed that coaching a club like Lazio is a prestigious opportunity sought after by all coaches. He emphasized the allure of working with a strong team, passionate fans, and being based in Rome, making it impossible for him to turn down the offer.


"You don't need a reason to come and manage a team like Lazio. Every coach strives to reach this level. How could I not embrace the opportunity to be a part of this club, leading a good squad with exceptional fans in a city like Rome?" He mentioned this on the Lazio Style Channel.


Reflecting on his initial experiences with the club during the first 48 hours, Tudor praised the training facilities at Formello, noting their suitability for effective coaching. He also commended the club's professionalism, organization, and supportive environment, highlighting the importance given to the coach's role in achieving success.


"I have seen the facilities at Formello, here you can work well, they have the prerequisites and facilities needed for a very good coach."
