Mandas On Wolverhampton’s Radar: Lazio Set €25-30 Million Price Tag

The summer transfer window is set to bring big changes at Lazio, with Premier League side Wolves now leading the race for promising Greek goalkeeper Christos Mandas. The 23-year-old’s future in Rome has been thrown into doubt following the return of Maurizio Sarri, who is expected to reestablish Ivan Provedel as his first-choice keeper.

Mandas arrived at Lazio in 2023 as a backup, but forced his way into the spotlight after a series of impressive displays, ultimately becoming Marco Baroni’s preferred starter towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign. However, the new coaching shakeup under Sarri, who has a strong working relationship with Provedel, could see Mandas relegated to the bench once again.

Highly rated for his agility and composure, Mandas is considered too valuable to serve as a backup. With interest from several Premier League clubs, Lazio are reportedly open to selling the Greek international for a fee in the region of €25-30 million. Wolves have been named as the frontrunners, while Southampton and other English clubs are also closely monitoring his situation.

Should Mandas depart, Lazio are likely to promote 18-year-old Davide Renzetti as the new deputy to Provedel, rather than sign another experienced goalkeeper—especially with no European competition on the calendar next season. This move would mark a significant shift in the club’s goalkeeping hierarchy, signaling a focus on youth development.

As Lazio prepare for the Sarri 2.0 era, the future of several players remains uncertain. Mandas’ situation is one to watch, as his departure could provide Lazio with a substantial capital gain and open the door for another young talent to rise through the ranks. With Wolves pushing hard for his signature, the coming weeks could prove decisive for both Mandas and Lazio’s summer plans.
