Zoff: "This Isn’t Just A Repeat Of The Past. Sarri Is A Very Intelligent Coach Who Understands The Inner Workings Of The Club."

Lazio are set to begin an exciting new chapter as Maurizio Sarri prepares to return to the Biancoceleste dugout, following his resignation in March 2024. The move has received strong backing from none other than Italian football icon Dino Zoff, who voiced his support in a recent interview with Il Corriere della Sera.

Zoff, recognized as both a legendary goalkeeper and coach, described Sarri’s imminent return as “an excellent move” for the club, especially at a time when supporters are eager for renewed ambition after missing out on European competition. “This isn’t just a repeat of the past,” Zoff said. “Sarri is a very intelligent coach who understands the inner workings of the club and is well-placed to advise management on the right players to help Lazio relaunch.”

Highlighting Sarri’s tactical prowess, Zoff expressed confidence that the returning coach could restore solidity to Lazio’s defense, making the most of talents like Romagnoli and Gila, while emphasizing the importance of strategic reinforcements across the squad.

Zoff also took a moment to commend Marco Baroni, who is set to depart the club. “Baroni did a good job. It’s important not to let the narrative become one of failure,” he stated, recognizing the groundwork laid by his predecessor as Lazio sets its sights on a revitalized future under Sarri’s leadership.
