[Official] Guidonia Montecelio Sign Ex-Lazio Star Tommaso Rocchi As Primavera Coach
A familiar name is making headlines in Italian football, but this time it’s on the sidelines rather than the pitch. Tommaso Rocchi, celebrated former Lazio striker and club captain, has embarked on a new coaching journey as the head of the Primavera squad at Guidonia Montecelio 1937 FC.
The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Guidonia Montecelio, who recently celebrated promotion to Serie C. By entrusting Rocchi with the development of their youth talent, the club signals a strong commitment to investing in the future—hoping to build a lasting foundation both on and off the field.
Rocchi, born in 1977, is fondly remembered by Lazio supporters for his nine-year spell with the Biancoceleste from 2004 to 2013. During his tenure, he found the net 105 times in 293 appearances, earning a reputation as one of the most prolific and intelligent forwards of his generation. His leadership qualities saw him wear the captain’s armband, and his goalscoring exploits became an inspiration for a generation of fans.
Since hanging up his boots, Rocchi has turned to nurturing the next wave of footballers, starting his coaching career in Lazio’s youth setup in 2016. Now, at Guidonia Montecelio, he’ll have the opportunity to guide young players at a crucial stage in their development, a challenge he’s eager to embrace.
“Over the years I’ve built a strong relationship with my staff, and we’re excited to begin this experience at Guidonia Montecelio,” Rocchi stated following his appointment. “We want to share our knowledge with the players and help them grow in what is a decisive age for their careers. Here, the connection with the first team is much closer than in most professional clubs, which makes this an outstanding opportunity for the youth.”
Rocchi will be joined by assistant coach Alessandro Iannuzzi, another former Lazio forward, and fitness coach Alessandro Geraldi. Their collective experience promises to provide an enriching environment for the young squad.
