[Friendly] Lazio - Lazio Primavera = 3 - 0

Lazio began their preseason with a solid 3-0 victory against the Primavera side coached by Francesco Punzi, in a traditional “family” friendly played at the Fersini training ground in Formello. The match served as the first real test for Maurizio Sarri’s men after a week of intensive training, providing fans and staff a first glimpse of the new season’s squad dynamics.

The evening kick-off was a symbolic bridge between two weeks of preparations, with both squads looking to impress. For the first team, it was an opportunity to put Sarri’s tactical drills into practice. For the youth side, it was a chance to measure themselves against elite competition and gain invaluable experience.

Lazio 1st Half (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Gila, Provstgaard, Tavares; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Dele-Bashiru; Noslin, Castellanos, Pedro

Lazio Primavera 1st Half (4-3-3): Bosi;  Ferrari, Bordon, Bordoni, Calvani; Gelli, Farcomeni, Morelli; Cuzzarella, Sulejmani, Serra

Lazio started brightly, with several attacking moves orchestrated by the likes of Noslin, Pedro, and Castellanos. After hitting the post through Castellanos and being denied by the Primavera’s young keeper Bosi, the breakthrough came just before halftime. Dutch striker Noslin set up Pedro, who controlled well in the box and calmly finished with his left foot, giving Sarri’s team a deserved lead going into the break.

Lazio 2nd Half (4-3-3): Furlanetto (69' Renzetti); Lazzari, Gigot (76' Ruggeri), Romagnoli, Hysaj; Belahyane, Rovella, Vecino; Cancellieri, Dia, Pedro (56' Basic).

Lazio Primavera 2nd Half (4-3-3): Giacomone (69' Pannozzo); Ferrari, Bordon (56' Pernaselci), Bordoni (56' Ciucci), Trifelli; Santagostino, Milillo (70' Cangemi), Battisti (70' Iorio); Curzi (70' D'Agostino), Montano (70' Carbone), Canali.

The second half saw a flurry of substitutions on both sides as Sarri rotated his squad. Only Pedro remained from the first-half lineup, highlighting Sarri’s intent to give minutes to a wide pool of players. Primavera goalkeeper Giacomone was called into action on several occasions but could do little to stop Lazio’s attacking quality.

In the 68th minute, Matteo Cancellieri produced a moment of brilliance, curling a left-footed strike into the top corner to double Lazio’s lead. The Primavera continued to show resilience, but as fatigue set in, Lazio took control of possession and chances.

With the match nearing its conclusion, Nicolò Rovella slipped a clever ball to Toma Basic, who made no mistake and sealed the result with a third goal in stoppage time.

The final whistle confirmed a 3-0 win for Sarri’s side, with goals from Pedro, Cancellieri, and Basic highlighting the depth and technical ability within the squad. The Primavera, meanwhile, left the pitch with credit for their organization and fight, despite the scoreline.

As the preseason continues, Lazio will look to build on this promising start. The match not only offered valuable minutes to senior and youth players alike but also underlined the club’s focus on integrating young talent with experienced heads.

The next fixtures in Lazio’s preseason calendar will offer further tests as Sarri’s men prepare for the challenges of the upcoming Serie A campaign.
