[Official] Rossi Makes Comeback As Foggia’s Head Coach
A familiar face is set to return to Italian football’s spotlight—Delio Rossi is officially the new head coach of Foggia, marking his third spell with the storied Apulian club. The official announcement came after a lengthy negotiation, with Foggia’s president Nicola Canonico securing the agreement that brings Rossi back to the bench on Via Gioberti.
Rossi, who is fondly remembered by Lazio fans for leading the biancoceleste to Coppa Italia glory in 2009, is tied to Foggia until June 30, 2026, with an option to extend. For Rossi, this is a homecoming in every sense. He not only played for Foggia from 1981 to 1987—achieving promotion and memorable victories, including a notable Coppa Durum clash with Real Madrid—but he also began his coaching career in the club’s youth ranks before taking charge of the first team in the mid-90s.
After years spent managing top clubs such as Lazio, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Palermo, and Bologna, Rossi is once again taking on the challenge in Foggia, aiming to lead the Rossoneri back to higher levels of Italian football. His last stint with Foggia came in March 2023, when he dramatically guided the club to the playoff final, narrowly missing out on promotion.
This new chapter is more than just a managerial appointment—it’s a strategic move for an ambitious Foggia project. The club is actively searching for a sporting director to complement Rossi’s wealth of experience, and there’s only one clear objective: promotion.
Rossi and his coaching staff will be officially unveiled in a press conference in the coming days. As the Foggia faithful celebrate the return of a beloved figure, Lazio supporters too will watch with interest as a piece of their history takes on another bold challenge.
Welcome home, Mister Rossi!
