[Official] Bertini Leaves Lazio, Joins Pianese On Permanent Deal
Another chapter closes for one of Lazio’s homegrown talents. Marco Bertini, the Roman-born midfielder who came through the Biancoceleste youth ranks, has officially left the club to join Pianese, a Serie C side, on a permanent transfer.
The move comes after Bertini returned from his loan spell at Ascoli, where he made over twenty appearances last season. Now, at 22 years old, the former Primavera captain is ready to reset his career with a fresh start in Tuscany.
In their official statement, Pianese welcomed Bertini with open arms:
“Marco Bertini is a new Pianese player. The club is pleased to announce the signing of the central midfielder, born in 2002 in Rome, who joins us on a permanent deal. Bertini developed in Lazio’s youth system, progressing all the way to the Primavera, where he wore the captain’s armband. In the 2020/21 season, he made his Serie A debut and was included in the Champions League squad list. From the following year, he became part of the first team.”
Bertini also spent two seasons gaining valuable experience in Serie B and C. At SPAL, he notched up 14 appearances and scored twice, before moving on loan to Ascoli last season.
While his time with Lazio’s senior team was brief, just two Serie A appearances, Bertini was always seen as a reliable, disciplined midfielder with strong leadership qualities. Those traits earned him a regular role in the youth system and the trust of multiple coaches.
Now, under the guidance of coach Birindelli, Bertini joins Pianese’s senior squad, already training and ready to contribute from day one.
Although his Lazio journey has ended, his professional career is still very much in its early stages. For fans of the Biancoceleste, Bertini’s move is a bittersweet reminder of the many young talents developed at Formello who continue their paths elsewhere.
We wish Marco nothing but the best as he embraces this new opportunity, and who knows, maybe this is just a stepping stone back to the higher stages of Italian football.
