Rovella Out For Around A Month After Choosing Surgery For Groin Pain

October 06, 2025

The decision has been made: Lazio midfielder Niccolò Rovella will undergo surgery to address his ongoing pubalgia (groin pain) problems. After several weeks of attempting conservative treatments without success, the 23-year-old has opted for a surgical solution in hopes of resolving the issue once and for all.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the operation will take place in the coming days at the Quisisana private clinic in Rome, a facility well-known for treating professional athletes. The goal of the procedure is to permanently eliminate the discomfort that has limited Rovella’s availability and performance in recent weeks.

Rovella had initially tried to avoid surgery by following a personalized therapy plan. However, the pain persisted, prompting the medical staff to agree that surgery was the best course of action to ensure a full recovery.

After the operation, Rovella will immediately begin a rehabilitation program tailored to his physical condition. The estimated recovery period is around one month, though the exact timeline will depend on how well the player responds to treatment and regains match fitness.

The club’s medical team remains optimistic that Rovella could return to full training by late November or early December, giving Maurizio Sarri a timely boost in midfield depth as the Biancoceleste continue their campaign in Serie A.
