[Serie A] Atalanta - Lazio = 0 - 0

Lazio came away from Bergamo with a valuable point after holding Atalanta to a goalless draw in Matchday 7 of Serie A at the New Balance Arena on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

It was not a dominant performance from the Biancoceleste, but it was one filled with discipline, teamwork, and strong defensive organization. Atalanta pushed hard throughout the match, yet Lazio stood firm and refused to be broken down.

From the first whistle, both sides played with intensity, contesting every ball in midfield. The match quickly turned into a tactical battle, with Lazio prioritizing compact defense and quick transitions. The first real opportunity for Lazio came from Matteo Guendouzi in the 14th minute, whose long-range effort flew just over Carnesecchi’s goal.

Atalanta responded with waves of attacks, but Ivan Provedel once again proved his worth. The Lazio goalkeeper made several crucial saves, including one from Ademola Lookman’s close-range attempt that seemed destined for the net. Provedel’s calm presence between the posts gave confidence to the entire backline, guarded well by Alessio Romagnoli and Mario Gila.

In the second half, the home side increased their pressure, forcing Lazio to defend deep. Honest Ahanor missed a promising chance, while Davide Zappacosta hit the post in the 82nd minute, giving the Biancoceleste a huge sigh of relief. Despite Atalanta’s dominance in possession, Lazio’s structure and determination kept them from conceding.

Maurizio Sarri’s men rarely threatened in attack, but their defensive discipline earned them a clean sheet and a vital away point. The result highlights Lazio’s growing maturity and defensive improvement after a shaky start to the season.

With this draw, Lazio now sit in 12th place with eight points, level with Atalanta who occupy eighth position. Though the Biancoceleste still need to find greater consistency in front of goal, their ability to survive under pressure in Bergamo is a sign of progress.

Lazio will now look ahead with optimism, hoping to turn solid defensive displays into winning results as they prepare for their next Serie A challenge.
