[Official] Dia And Dele-Bashiru Called Up For AFCON Forcing Sarri To Reshape Lazio Plan

Lazio are set to lose key attacking options in the coming weeks following new call ups for the Africa Cup of Nations. Senegal’s head coach has officially included Boulaye Dia in his 28 man squad for the tournament, with the player expected to report to the national team training camp in Diamniadio starting tomorrow.

The former Salernitana forward will not be the only Lazio representative at AFCON. Dele Bashiru has already received his call up from Nigeria, announced on Friday by national team coach Finidi Chelle. Reda Belahyane, on the other hand, will remain in Rome after being left out of Morocco’s squad.

According to Corriere dello Sport, both Senegal and Nigeria are considered among the strongest contenders to reach the final stages of the competition. This scenario could force Lazio to cope without their players for an extended period, as the tournament is scheduled to run from December 21 through January 18 for teams progressing deep into the knockout rounds.

The timing of their departure means both players will miss Lazio’s traditional Christmas dinner, set to take place tomorrow evening at Spazio Novecento in the EUR district, a small but symbolic absence during a key moment of team unity.

With AFCON looming, attention in Formello is increasingly turning to Tijjani Noslin. The Dutch forward is quietly gaining ground in Sarri’s hierarchy, making the most of the limited minutes he has been afforded. While not always flawless in execution, Noslin has shown energy, involvement, and a growing confidence within the system.

As Lazio prepare for a demanding winter schedule, Noslin is now expected to shoulder greater responsibility, stepping in to fill the void left by the departing AFCON players. For the former Verona man, the coming weeks could represent a decisive opportunity to further consolidate his place in the squad and reshape his standing at the club.
